Having seen the massive profit potential of cloning American-engineered mods and atomizers, the Chinese are now looking for ways to utilize their ability to duplicate objects to bring in even more cash.
On the heels of the success of the RSST, a clone of the American-made AC9 by Vapinaze, SMOK Technology announced plans to expand their cloning efforts in a series of product postings on Alibaba, a trading website commonly used by Chinese suppliers and manufacturers.
“New arrival! 2013″ one of the announcements reads, “Hottest and most popular!”
In online chat with SMOK representative Daisy Zhou, we did our best to get to the bottom of this disturbing development.
Zhou: Hello, this is Daisy. How may I help you?
Vape Squad: Are we to understand that you are cloning Phil Busardo?
Zhou: Yes! Most popular reviewer of 2013! Hot and new best seller!
Vape Squad: Umm…Â why?
Zhou: Americans buy products pbusardo likes. We make a pbusardo to tell Americans to buy SMOK products. Most popular! Fresh taste!
Vape Squad: Isn’t this illegal?
Zhou: American law not important. We clone everything here. Cobra, Zen, DID, we make inexpensive and send to America. Fast shipping! A++!
Vape Squad: Will this clone recommend websites? And if so, what’s the MOQ?
Unfortunately, there are no records of the conversation beyond that point. Repeated calls to Phil Busardo for comments were not answered.
