Minnesota Bills Propose Tax Increases

Minnesota_State_CapitolOn the heels of our post Friday about New Mexico’s efforts that could lead to taxation of e-cigarettes comes this news from Minnesota.  Minnesota is already the only state in the union to tax e-cigarettes as the result of actions taken by the legislature ion 2010, but bills working their way through the process right now (HF 91, HF 509, SF 144 and SF 209) could increase those taxes to as much as 95% of the wholesale value.  Yes, that’s correct: 95%. It doesn’t take a degree in math to figure out that excessive taxes like this could greatly impact vapers in Minnesota, as well as deter many from dropping their smokes and trying something safer.

CASAA has posted a call to action on their website, and provided information on the bills, as well as a list of contacts within the Minnesota government.
