Alice in Vapeland: Pear Ship

Pear Ship is available from Alice in Vapeland by accessing the Caterpillar’s Apothecary, which can be accessed by selecting “C.Room” from the menu, and then clicking the image of Alice standing in front of a red door.  Please be aware that selections from the Apothecary are still works in progress, and this review may not accurately represent Pear Ship in its final form, if it makes it into general production at all.

35811-hi-usapearclusterAs with other flavors in the Apothecary, Pear Ship has no description on the site. However, a couple of things can be inferred from the name.  First, the obvious: Pear Ship contains pear flavoring.  The second is that it is also a tobacco flavor — “Desert Ship” is a common name used in place of “Camel” for flavors that attempt to reproduce the flavor of that brand of cigarette.

Pear Ship is most likely a naturally extracted tobacco flavor, or NET. Alice in Vapeland has released one such flavor before in the form of Ravyn, a limited edition blend which received very mixed reviews, many of which were highly unfavorable. Pear Ship is a very different juice, though.  While the flavorings used in Ravyn were difficult to discern, Pear Ship is very much a pear flavor first and foremost. Additionally, the pear flavor is a good one, which nothing artificial about it.  It is lightly sweet, and not in any way overpowering.

A lot of the subtlety of the juice can probably by attributed to the tobacco base, which is very mild and slightly ashy.  The tobacco is so mild, in fact, that it is difficult to determine much about what type of tobacco it might be, though it seems likely to be a light tobacco absolute used in sparing quantities.  The result is a juice that is nearly all pear, but toned down  with an earthiness that gives this juice more a feel of tobacco than the actual flavor of it.

Pear Ship is most definitely one from Alice in Vapeland’s subtle side, more akin to their understated tea blends like A Quiet Morning than to their ultrasweet, candy-like blends such as Zombie Apocalypse.  As such, it makes a good candidate for an all-day vape, particularly for those who love fruit flavors, but don’t want something too sweet.

It should probably be noted the shipping times from Alice in Vapeland can be very long.  The time between when we placed our order and when a shipping notice was sent was just short of three weeks.  Be sure to take this into account when placing your order so you’re not left without juice.
