IKVision Clearomizer From Ikenvape

If you read everything around here, and God help you if you do, you already know we recently receive an Oakley X Cube, and that we were less than impressed by how it looked when 510-threaded devices were attached instead of the garish neon-colored clearos that are part of the X Cube kit.  In an effort to remedy that situation, we headed to Ikenvape for two solutions: an eGo ring and a couple better-looking eGo-threaded clearomizers.

The simple solution was the ring.  It screws down onto the eGo threads, giving a much cleaner line between the X Cube and the attached device. For example, here are a couple of shots of the X Cube with a 510-based dripping atomizer: note how the one without the ring on the left looks a bit more like the work of Mario and Luigi than the one with the ring on the right.

Our other solution was the IKVision Clearomizer.  It’s a top-coil clearomizer, and it works quite well on our X Cube.  Vapor production is good, flavor is on par with the Kanger clearos we’ve tried, and it has yet to leak on us.

Still, we have one major issue.  Remember why we got these clearos?  Well, we ordered a black one and a clear one, trying to avoid the 80′s-flashback-neon coloring of the Oakley clearos.  Well, here’s our part listing from our order:

And here’s what we got:

We have leg warmers this same color.

We have leg warmers this same color.

In Ikenvape’s defense, we haven’t contacted them to ask about a replacement because, frankly, it’s a four-dollar clearo and we’re not going to sweat something that small.  However, every time we leave the house with a PV that looks like a prop from the set of Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, we’ll remember whose fault it is.

The scores on this fluorescent green… thing?:

Build Quality: 7/10

For all  the trash talk about the color, the IKVision clearo seems pretty well-built. We’re getting all the vapor and flavor we’d expect from something like a Kanger T3, but we’re not getting any of the dry hits and leaking we’ve come to expect from recent Kangers.

Looks: 7/10

This is a plain and simple clearo. Nothing too fancy, with the possible exception of the God-awful color of the green one we got when we ordered clear (really, we’re almost over it), and you can’t replace the drip tip, but we expect stuff like that from a $4 clearo.

Flexibility: 7/10

The is an eGo-only device, and requires a eGo-to-510 adapter if you want to use it with something with a 510 connector. We also found conflicting information in its description on Ikenvape’s site: in one place it says these hold 1.6ml, while a little further down it states 2.5ml.  For the record, ours held just under 2.0ml if we really pushed the limits.  Not the biggest tank in the world, but enough to keep you going for a while.

Performance: 7/10

As we mentioned before, we had no problems with leaking or dry hits. Vapor production was good, and flavor was no more muted than with similar clearos.

Price: 8/10

At $3.99, the IKVision is priced significantly lower than what we’ve typically found for Kanger’s offerings.

Overall Score: 7.2
