New Mexico Bill Proposes Tax on E-Cigarettes

NewMexicoCapitolSantaFeCASAA (The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association) is calling for members to assist in fighting New Mexico’s bill HB428. The bill will not only greatly increase taxes on tobacco products, but widens the definition of a tobacco product to include any product which contains tobacco, and quite likely e-cigarette products as well.  Taxes could be as high as 53% of the retail value.

The bill is currently still in committee, and CASAA is urging members to join the fight before this bill can make things much more expensive for vapers in New Mexico.  More information, updates, and contact lists can be obtained at CASAA’s website.
