Study Finds Vaping Less Harmful

A new independent study conducted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland and the National Institutes of Health has researched the levels of toxic chemicals in e-cigarette vapor, and has concluded that “substituting tobacco cigarettes with e-cigarettes may substantially reduce exposure to selected tobacco-specific toxicants.”science

E-cigarettes as a harm reduction strategy among smokers unwilling to quit, warrants further study.

While some toxins were found, particularly low levels of formaldehyde which are probably produced from heating propylene glycol, the overall conclusions are pretty good news, including the finding that “one would expect that if a person switched from conventional cigarettes to e-cigarettes the exposure to toxic chemicals and related adverse health effects would be reduced.”

Further analysis of the study can be found at The Rest of the Story.
