Vape the Rockies: Pineapple Toffee

Vape the Rockies is a relative veteran in the vaping business, having been around since 2009. They priomarily sell e-juice and DIY supplies. Our sample was a 50% PG/50% VG mix with 12mg/ml of nicotine.

One of the perks of reviewing juices is that you tend to have a lot of it around. We found ourselves in just such a situation when, recently, we were offered a trade of some juice we hadn’t tried for some that we had. As a result, one of the things we ended up with was a 30ml bottle of Vape the Rockies Pineapple Toffee.

pineapple-week-45Vape the Rockies (VTR for short), for whatever reason, doesn’t seem to be a well-known name in the juice world. You tend not to see them mentioned in popularity contests, or as a recommendation when people are looking for juice vendors.  Frankly, we’re not sure why that it is.  The juices we’ve tried from them have been consistently good, particularly their tobacco flavors (which we’ll get around to reviewing eventually).  Pineapple Toffee was no exception to this rule.

While it would have been easy to make this a super-sweet juice that would melt your teeth, VTR took it in another direction.  From the initial inhale, the first thing we noticed was that the pineapple is not overpowering, and it’s not pineapple candy.  It’s more the flavor of real pineapple juice, with just the right amount of sweetness and a slight touch of pineapple acidity.

As a follow-up to the pineapple, you get the toffee flavor. Again, it is not too sweet, and filled with a light, slightly-buttery and very authentic toffee flavor that blends seamlessly with the initial pineapple. Where VTR could have created an ultra-sweet candy juice, or allowed a very distinct flavor like pineapple to take over the juice completely, they have instead created a very good candy/fruit mix that defies categorization and avoids the common pitfalls of both types of juice.

At $16.75 for 30ml, this juice comes in at a per-milliliter cost of $.56, which is an exceptional price.  If you’re looking to try out a few VTR flavors, however, be sure to check out their samplers.  Currently, a 5-pack of 10ml sample bottles is $15, for a per-milliliter cost of $.30, which is an exceptional value and a lower cost than you’ll find juice almost anywhere else.  Pineapple Toffee is one of the flavors available in these samplers, and at that price, it’s unquestionably worth trying.
